I just so busy that I'm going crazy. I have neglected my website. There's something that I wanted to take care of now while I had time.
We had a nice full season of "Thank God You're Here" on NBC. I love watching improv shows, especially good one. This show had Chris Tallman, who I used to see all the time at ComedySportz Los Angeles.
This show was a descent show. I'd say about every other episode was good. The premiere was hilarious, especially Brian Cranston and the Soup guy.
Here's my amateur analysis. The stars had one of two ways to approach a scene. The first was to react. Weird things happen on stage and they react. They react with a funny line or a funny action. It is interesting but those who were known as great improvisers chose to do their scenes this way and unfortunately it was not as funny.
The second approach was to put yourself in the scene and become part of the scene. A few actors became characters and actually found ways to "rewrite" the scene by seamlessly being a part of a scene. From an audience perspective, we weren't thinking, "how will this actor deal with this situation." We saw an actor now take ownership of the scene and character and perform beautifully.
My guess is that this will be the only season of this show.
